Literacy for Littles
Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Colchester is offering the Literacy for Littles Program for children on our waiting list or matched, ages 6-8. The program will run from July 6th to August 17th, 2011, every Wednesday morning from 9:30am-11:30am at the Big Brothers-Big Sisters office (26 Logan Street).Goals for Littles in this Program:
1. To have FUN!!!
2. To foster a love of reading and develop literacy skills.
3. To learn new concepts.
4. To develop social skills as part of our group in a safe and fun environment.
5. To increase self esteem through learning and positive feedback from group leaders.
6. To learn about the Library on our field trip there!
Our Schedule:
· 9:30-Arrival, guess our theme!
· 9:40- What do you know about our theme?
· 9:45- Read some stories based on our theme.
· 10:05- Have a fun snack based on our theme.
· 10:25- Do a craft based on our theme.
· 10:45- play some games about our theme.
· 11:05- What did we learn today?
· 11:15- Choose some books to ‘Check out’ from the BBBS Library!

· July 6th: Dinosaurs
· July 13th: Our Favorite Animals
· July 20th: Camping in the Woods
· July 27th: Fairy Tales and Pirates (Library Trip!)
· August 3rd: Bugs
· August 10th: Under the Ocean
· August 17th: Back to School and Friendships
There is a one time $10 fee for participation in this program. Transportation to and from the agency is the responsibility of the parent or guardian. However, transportation to and from scheduled field trips will be provided by the agency. Please contact us at 895-4562 with any questions!
